Paryaaksha

Environmental Education Program

Introduction

After working on a small project and conducting observations, our team realized that a significant gap exists in the core fundamentals of environmental education among the majority of people. This gap stems primarily from a lack of understanding of basic environmental principles. Alarmingly, our small survey revealed that 70-80% of respondents could not even identify a leopard.

To address this critical issue, we have previously conducted workshops and competitions for schools and colleges. However, we now aim to implement a more impactful, long-term project solely dedicated to students.

We have named this program “Paryaaksha” – पर्याक्षा, a combination of “पर्यावरण” (environment) and “शिक्षा” (education) or “रक्षा” (protection). Paryaaksha – The Environmental Education Program will involve teams of dedicated nature enthusiasts conducting a diverse range of in-school and on-field activities. These activities will include interactive lectures, quizzes, workshops, beach walks, forest treks, and more.

The overarching goal of Paryaaksha is to equip students with essential environmental knowledge and scientific understanding. This comprehensive education will empower them to effectively address current and future environmental challenges. Instill a sense of environmental stewardship and responsibility among students. Provide educational resources and workshops on environmental issues and conservation. Engage with multiple schools to create a widespread impact on environmental awareness. Encourage sustainable practices within schools and their communities. Encourage students to pursue and get involved in the environment conservation field.

Details

The project began with an some occasional workshops in the past but from 5th June 2025, we made it our primary goal and started focusing more on schools, aimed at
spreading awareness and engaging students in environmental education. By March 2025,
we are proud to have successfully reached over 5000+ students across more than 22
schools. This initiative has helped expand our reach and inspire young minds to take
meaningful action for the environment. The growing enthusiasm among students is a
testament to the importance of environmental education, and we look forward to
continuing this journey and making an even greater impact in the months ahead.
